Weekly Photo Challenge: Wildlife

13 May

Some of our gerbils.  They are fabulous pets who will interact with you yet remain ‘wild’.  The photo of Pepper on the Hub’s hand is a little blurred, but I include it to show you how she would groom his hair.

Very sweet, I used to have hamsters.

The Hub decided against them because they are nocturnal and the boys wouldn’t be able to interact much with them. We got gerbils instead. They adapted to his habits and became…nocturnal.

Lovely pix, except the last one – is it the right way up?
I couldn’t make head nor tail of it !

Salt is in my sleeve, having climbed up one arm and down the other.

I know a cat who’d be interested in your gerbils….

    Sweet!

I love the way cedar shavings smell in gerbil and hamster cages.

Pity they don’t stay that sweet smelling :)

Priceless. Rodents are my favourite. These guys have a lust for life.

Wow I think I would freak out if they crawled over me. Don’t they bite? they are cute though :)

    • Tilly Bud May 14, 2011 at 10:32 #

They don’t bite unless they’re frightened.

Adorable photos and they seem quite happy to be captured by the camera. :-)

Every animal in this house lives with a camera in their face :)

Too cute! How many gerbils do you have? xx

    • Tilly Bud May 15, 2011 at 09:51 #

Seven – all buried in the back garden. They don’t often live past three years.
