I am a little fat. I like food; what can I say? I have dull hair: mousey. I don’t wear much make-up and have no need of a dressing table. If I look like a bag lady, I chose my own clothes. If I look nice, the Hub picked them for me. Despite all this, I am a little vain. This photograph is from 2003. I had to go back that far to find one of me that I liked. But I don’t really care: my husband still thinks I’m beautiful and if he doesn’t, he loves me enough to lie about it. I’m lucky. I have two boys. They never lie to me. Still, you can't have everything.
I would love to hear from you!

Describe the perfect sandwich. Will Smith.Me.BradPitt. What? It could happen…
Today is National Poetry Day. I was going to bring you some fun and interesting facts about poetry, but you know what? There aren’t any. Not on the internet, anyway. Poetry is dull. By the way, remember to check out my poetry blog, I’m Not A Verse. * * * * * I did find […]
Viewfromtheside offered fascinating as the weekend theme. I thought you might like some fascinating facts. Can you guess which, if any, are true? You can’t fold paper more than seven times. You can, actually, if you are young and determined and rope in your family and a shopping mall. From Wikipedia: In January 2002, while a […]
With apologies to Paul, who might not find this blog to be quite what he was expecting. Take a look at this You Tube video. This – boy? young man? lad? What do I call him? He’s of a similar age to Tory Boy but obviously we are not on similar terms. I’ll call him ‘person’ […]
I have long been in search of the perfect handbag. It must be black; have a short and long handle, so that I can carry it down, under my arm, over my shoulder or over my chest; it must not be so big that I carry a load of junk around with me that I […]

Awe c’mon Mom. He will brag about those war wounds for weeks. And show all the girls how macho he is
There’s always a silver lining
He is probably very proud of every bruise and scuff – that’s boys for you! As mothers, we cringe at the thought of our babies getting hurt!
I had to stop going to the games, especially after the time he blacked out for a few minutes.
I feel your concern. My son was running today and fell flat on his face. He has a big bruise on his nose and mouth. But my son loves sports and I just cross my fingers that he does not get hurt. I would like to feel happy for his passion even if it stresses me out sometimes. Thanks for sharing , you’re son is lucky to have you as a mom.
Thanks
It’s awful when they hurt themselves, isn’t it? As they get older, the hurts change and a kiss and cuddle won’t make them better any more. That hurts me
I feel similarly about judo. Poor kid.
Our children really don’t appreciate what we go through for them.
I don’t watch. I drop him off and arrange the pick up time. Saves me the angst …
Me either
I’m with you, Tilly. I can remember the first time I REALLY looked at a soccer game with my son playing and realized that they were playing “for keeps” and no protective equipment ! Prayers offered every game, for safety for them all, and then after many years, he graduated, and I found out the boys still liked to do their sports. After I turned him over to his wife, he slowed down with responsibilities, but now at 44 it is marathons, biathalons and triathalons. I let his wife and children worry and just check the internet for the results !
But I DO hear you…☺♥.
The Hub always says that soccer is a man’s game, so you should be proud
This did surely hurt.
It did, but he was brave about it. Thanks for calling in
Ah…indeed badges of honor to show the ladies.
I guess men and women look at these things quite differently
Yup. I support Felix in his football and cricket and pray the day when he wants to play rugby never comes….
He’s given it up now but I still have col sweats thinking about it. And sweats of a different kind when watching a man’s game…
My older daughter played soccer and ran track and jumped over hurdles in high school. Somehow, she managed to be bruise and injury-free.
Second daughter, on the other hand, participated in no sports. But when she rode a bike for the first time in high school, she fell and had a huge bruise on her calf.
Go figger! hahaha
You’ve got to laugh!
Even my husband wears bruises and scars (from playing soccer, climbing trees, …) with pride
.
Men! They really are from another planet
Ouchie
Ouch! I hope they heal real soon… I’ve never been a big fan of rugby… too violent. Though I must say that I love the shirts.
These are old photos and he did heal eventually. Then he got more
