Imperfect Moments

Are 3D movies a fad, or here to stay?

Dear WordPress,

You do know I have a life?  Why are you wasting my time with such daft questions?

Here’s one for you: are your daft questions a fad, or here to stay?

Love, The Laughing Housewife (a 3d woman with a Z list address book)

What’s a food you’ve always wanted to try?

Can’t think of any.  I’m not adventurous when it comes to trying food, though I have eaten crocodile, shark, elephant and other exotic African stuff.  It was at a buffet restaurant called The Train, in Midrand, South Africa.  An…interesting experience, let’s say.

I’ve also eaten ostrich and caviar, on the night I surprised the Hub by taking him to The Rosebank Hotel to cheer him up during his recovery from a serious accident.  It was in the days before cable and satellite tv were in every home.  I had planned a romantic evening, but I reckoned without the boxing world title fight showing on M*NET.  However, the point of the exercise was to make him feel good, so I suppose it worked.

Incidentally, the facilities were fabulous.  We stayed less than twenty-four hours and I took three baths, just for fun.  And Brian Mitchell won; one of the Hub’s favourite boxers, for his intelligence in the ring.

Can a camera truly capture a moment in time?

Depends if I remember not to cover the lens with my finger.

Wow, I want to go to The Train restaurant! How can you claim you’re not adventurous with food when you’ve eaten crocodile, shark and elephant ?! I wouldn’t mind trying buffalo, elephant, warthog, crocodile and giraffe. One of my 101/1001 challenges is to try 10 unusual foods. There’s a restaurant in Manchester that serves zebra, so I plan to make that one of them.

Love your comment about the camera – so true!

It was forced on me by the Hub; not my own choice at all :)

Enjoy the stripes. What’s the bet it tastes like horse? :)

Brian Mitchell’s sons are good-for-nothing drug pushers. Must be such a disappointment for him :(

And to me. His Missus used to ring up Woolworths Eastgate and place her grocery order (I had a friend there).

I guess having money and prestige really is bad for the offspring. But I’d like to have the chance to disprove that theory :)

I have camera trouble, too, now and then. For example: my finger or the camera strap in the photo. Thank goodness for digital cameras. At least, now we don’t have to wait til the photo is actually printed to see our mistakes. lol.

3 d or not 3d? That is the question
Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of three dimensional cinema,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
    And by opposing end them?

I don’t propose to die, but I might be persuaded to sleep, perchance to dream. Aye, there’s the Hub.

3-D movies? Well, I saw Avatar,. When I came out of the theater I looked around and said, “Look, 3-D. And it’s free!”

Sadly, that’s a stock photo. Our visit was 24 or so years ago.
