Sorry For The Misunderstanding

6 Apr

I was surprised at the reaction to this photo yesterday, because it looks so obvious to me that it is make up, and I have a towel around me to protect my clothes.

I promise the Hub never laid a hand on me.  I take violence against women seriously and I would never make light of it, nor stay with a man who thought it was okay to knock me about.

I was touched that you wanted reassurance.   I would never have used this photo if I thought it would be misunderstood.

If you’d like to know how I feel about attacks on women, read this post.

Tilly, it’s good to hear that you are alright.
It’s a sad thing that violence against anyone goes on; sometimes, though, the bruises aren’t visible – or they’re more internal bruises that can’t be seen at first hand.
You may have inadvertently brought this fact home, but it’s a fact that everyone should be aware of and not just brush under the carpet.

And, you did show the make up in the very next photo as well to highlight the fact that it was theatrical.

    But thanks for the reassurance.

Ok, so why were you made up this way? I can’t find the previous post. The bruises look realistic but not the blood.

My niece, who likes to play with my make up.

Wow, I saw this one first and thought you’d been in an accident!! What an amazing make up artist!!

She is, and she was nine when she did this.

You must have got a bit of flak – hell!

I knew it was make up, because in the next photo you showed your makeup kit! So no problem for me! You should get a job with a movie studio and apply make up on the actors.

It wasn’t me; I was just the model :)

Hi, Tilly Bud. I thought it must be from some accident you had years ago — I knew it was quite a stretch to imagine you writing the way you did. But whoever did the makeup should get a job doing just that. I’ve been in theatre, and I’ve worn stage makeup, but I’ve never seen any so authentic! Wow!

It goes to show the power of the visual. You had the fine print, you had the topic, and you showed the makeup. It was your niece’s talent that really sold the bruises as real despite your best efforts to tell everyone it was for the topic ARRANGED. Your niece has crazy talent, I’ve had bruises (I am the clutz) and those were so real looking, the shading was extraordinary.

She’ll be so pleased when I tell her :)

That bruise is so realistic… I still wonder… (just kidding)

Usually, Tilly, I find a light tinted moisturiser and a touch of mascara do the trick :-D Glad you’re well. ‘Twould not do to have our laughing housewife duffed up.

I never picked up that you should have been beaten in real, maybe I should had.
Glad that you are okay and that .. everything is back to normal.

Glad that you didn’t pick that up, because I wasn’t :)

Suggestion Tilly: Add a caption to avoid photo pirates from running wih it for the wrong reason… just my two cents. ;-)
