God Save Our Gracious Queen!
I know it’s five words, not six, but we British are famous for understatement.
There are over nine thousand street parties planned over the next few days, not one of them in my area. There is a Jubilee picnic at my church, which I had planned to attend; but I received an invitation to my great-nephew’s christening, and I want to go to that.
I’ll be spending the day looking forward, not back. Not a bad way to approach life.

Will the great-nephew’s christening be jubilee themed??
I don’t think so
I’ll spend the day lamenting the fact that the kids won’t wear their jubilee t-shirts. The big chains make the cash and I don’t even get a cute photo…
Oh shame! Mind you, it’s such a grey day, it’s probably better to stay indoors.
They changed their minds! Phew!
Hooray!
mmmm!
Hmmm…
Now that is funny right there…Hope it is a great weekend for both you and the queen.
I’m sure it will be
I want to tell her that I love her a lot / But I gotta get a bellyful of wine / Her majesty’s a pretty nice girl / Someday I’m gonna make her mine / oh, yeah / Someday I’m gonna make her mine
Ron, do I gather you’ve been celebrating already?
Tilly I honour your sense of priorities. Can you record the procession? I shall be poeming, but by hook or by crook I wanna see that Gloriana boat.
I’ve emailed you xx
Problem solved, see email.
Your taste run to elegant older women, Ron?
That’s a heck of a lot of street party’s
It is! But it’s about a fifth of those held for 1977′s Silver Jubilee. ” million people this year; 10 million people back then.
You will have a lovely time at the christening, there is a cute baby to hold and fuss over and then hand back over to the parents. Forward is a good mindset, it’s easier moving forwards than backwards less chance of tripping.
He is the cutest child, but he’s turned one, so isn’t so keen on being held anymore
it is a wonderful way to live life, looking to the future, never looking back on our mistakes we made
Well, I think we might need to look at some, if only to avoid making them again. But not dwelling on them is important.
this is what i was trying to say, and u r right, we can look back so we don’t make the same mistakes over!
Great minds think alike
such an amazing feat… and seriously there is NOTHING going on over here!
Shame really when everyone seems to be obsessed with royalty….
Have a great weekend
That is a shame. You should have organised something
Call your friends now and tell them to bring a bottle, a plate of food, and red, white and blue anything!
Hail to your queen! It has been a long time since we had a leader of whom we could be proud…I guess we could mark it as a silver anniversary…just sayin’…where’s Monthy Python? I could use some help here…
Some of the expats are even holding a Jublilee party here in Portugal. I’m a sado, I’m blogging and gardening instead.
Tilly Bud, there is NOTHING understated about this blog post. But it’s fun! Have a great time hon.
I will! Thanks
It’s a positive moving forward way to do it too!
You are so right
Have a great time at the christening, and make sure they play Queen records all day.
And I hope all of the UK have a super day, I think the Queen is great.
Are you SURE you’re Irish?
Yes and she certainly is gracious.
Yes; she is
An domestic Queen has to do what she has to do … *smile
All of the Jubilee celebrations sound like so much fun. I hope the the spirit of the events rub off an all of your events.
I’m sure they will. The press is always gloomy beforehand, saying there’s no appetite for this sort of thing, then the public come out and surprise them with their enthusiasm
You know I actually remember when she was crowned. My Dad bought me the View Master reels of the coronation. For years I thought we were part of the British Empire. National Public Telvision is broadcasting the events here all weekend. Dianne
The Empire strikes back
Have a great weekend, Tilly
You too, Kate
Not a bad way at all. Enjoy
Enjoy the celebrations. Here in Northern ireland the attention is on the 2012 Torch which landed last night.
Enjoy!
