The Hub and I at (then) Jan Smuts Airport, November 1988. We were flying to the UK for Christmas, paid for by the compensation the Hub received for his motorbike accident the previous year.
I LOVED that jacket.
Spud as Willy Wonker for school Book Day, 2006.
Tory Boy with obligatory balloon on his 16th birthday.
The Hub loves Rolf Harris’s art so he wrote to him, asking for a caricature. To make things fair, the Hub drew a caricature of himself and sent it to Rolf with his request.
Mr H obliged by return post, and sent this photo of himself (in purple shirt), with the caricature in the top right of the picture. What a nice man.
The Hub slowed down the shutter for this picture of a Buxton river. Or maybe he shut down the slower? I don’t know: pens are my forte, not cameras.

The Hub is very clever at getting things and making things happen. He is a cool dude, lol. I like the jacket on you, the color is so pretty and the boys as usual adorable. I always love it when you add the family photos.
I always wonder if the posts are a little dull; I’m glad you like them
What a handsome family.
I really like this so much because of the photos and how it allows me/us to see you guys – beautiful family. Obviously our Rolf thought so too!
They say that .. purple stand for the last chance …. but with you guys … I think it stands for joy, fun and family …. and mad – take a pick. *smile – brilliant choice of photos, Tilly
I love that! Thank you
I am awestruck at the Rolf Harris picture: He is quite a hero of mine, a lovely man.
I’ve loved him from childhood
Love your pictures – especially the last one that’s amazing. Of course I’m partial to the color purple too.
Where do you get your challenge ideas from? I love doing photography challenges and I’d love to take part in this one.
WordPress offer a photo challenge each week. You can sign up for the emails. They come in every Friday. I’ll send you the link tomorrow.
How’d you get your words purple too?!
There’s a button at the top for colour.
I also love your jacket. Rolf Harris has always been a favourite of mine, ever since I was very young. I wonder how old he is now.
In his eighties, I think.
Cyclomaniac was wearing glasses that big when we married in 1987….
Hard to believe there’s that much sand in the world, isn’t it?
‘What big glasses you have…’
‘All the better to see you with, my dear.’
Wait, wait, wait . . . your name is Linda, not Tilly?
Yes, yes, yes
When I started blogging I used a pseudonym but as my poetry started to get published and I shared the details with my readers, it seemed daft to carry on. However, everyone knows me as Tilly so it was easier to keep it than replace it.
You look so pretty in that photo, Tilly. Nice pics of hubby and sons, too. Never heard of Rolf Harris til now.
Big star in the UK for over 50 years, though he’s Australian.
YOu know your eyesight is going when you read “school bonk day” under Spud’s photo. Dianne
PS I thought that was a young you with your oldest son in the first photo. Hub looks like Tory Boy. D.
TB is the spit of his Dad
Royal purple for a royal family!
My granddaughters think purple is a princess color! It seems clear to me that you have a creative and joyous family…just look at those smiles! And I think Spud must have a little of his mother’s flair for the story in him!
Debra
Your granddaughters know their stuff – purple is a royal colour
I love the jacket too. Gorgeous family. Thanks for sharing.:)
Thanks for the compliment. Anything nice about my family always slips through unpunished
I loved the baggy jackets and bold colours we had in the 80′s -oops I might be giving my age away.
My secret’s already out
Rolf is my hero. In 1998 I worked in Maidenhead where he lived and the company I worked for opened a recycling centre, We asked him if he would open it and he said yes. I thought he would cut the string and leave immediately but he stayed all afternoon, entertained the guests, painted a picture and only charged £500!
What a great guy!
You are such a beautiful couple, with or without that pretty jacket. AND you have a gorgeous family. How fabulous that the Hub got that picture from Mr. Harris.
Wasn’t it nice of him? That’s why he’s still loved after fifty-odd years.
Great selections Tills!
