We Write Poems: ‘Collections’

3 Nov

From An Exasperated Wife

My husband collects
this, that and the other;

I think, why bother?
I’d put it all in the bin.

There’s no doubt
I’d like the lot cleared out.

Perhaps I’ll start with him.

    I do empathize. It’s more prevalent amongst men, I think, this collecting gene. 🙂

    I like the poem, but think you should keep Hub! Just don’t start collecting husbands.

          The person writing this comment. I think it must be because I don’t usually have to explain my jokes to Viv.

      Sigh. No. I love him too much to bin him; but I might lose my self-control one day as far as his humungous junk pile is concerned.

        Meant to add: there’s no such thing as a ‘bit’ of a collector.

    Tilly,
    This made me laugh! Why is it the men are the ones collecting what we consider junk? My husband seems to collect old exams he has given, to students he longer teaches. I am forever finding them in folders and tossing them. When I ask “Why are you keeping these”? The answer is always the same, “I dunno”.
