Flippin’ ‘Eck

18 Mar

It’s a half day at Spud’s school and it’s my turn to host the leftovers who don’t want to go home: four strapping teenagers and Spud and no food in the house…guess it’s pancake time.  Or shopping time.

Hooray for flour, eggs and milk.  Boo to having to clean the house before lunch.

Please can I come? I love pancakes. My stepson and his rubber – oops, rugger – mates could eat at least ten each, and we used to have to cook them in relays and eat them standing up.

PS I loved the cartoon. Is Steinbeck rolling in his grave?

Can’t you get them to clean as a barter for your making them pancakes?

ps: a hangover is the wrath of grapes …

surely it would be a better use of time to clean AFTER lunch? or after they’ve gone? (they won’t notice) – anyway, I guess this observation’s too late now, you’ll have had lunch

No, my house must always be clean for visitors. They can make as much mess as they like while they’re here, but it must be tidy for their arrival.

Tiday, yes… but clean is a different matter 🙂 (Just the important places: all wet areas, kitchens and bathrooms and loos. But dust and cobwebs? They can wait :))

I could eat pancakes until they came out of my ears. Lucky Spud and his mates.

It’s such a cheap and easy meal, if a little long-winded.

I’m not sure it is physically possible to store enough flour, eggs and milk to feed four teenagers. There is the fear of reaching for the last pancake and pulling back a nub.

If you keep them eating . . . they won’t notice the cobwebs. 😀

Kids love pancakes! I’m sure Spud and friends were thrilled!

I welcome your comments but be warned: I'm menopausal and as likely to snarl as smile. Wine or Maltesers are an acceptable bribe; or a compliment about my youthful looks and cheery disposition will do in a pinch.
