Time to get the wallpaper out.

I packed Spud Bud off to his brother in Lancaster yesterday – having first insisted he pack up his room, then pack his own suitcase – and today I start decorating.
The last time I decorated Spud’s room he thought Thomas the Tank Engine was the height of interior decoration sophistication. Fortunately, he moved into his brother’s room before train curtains became an issue.
Tory Boy opted for a Japanese theme when I decorated his room; Spud has never been keen on it and I promised to give it a makeover while he’s away.
I calculate the whole thing will cost me a pound: I have one box of wallpaper paste left from last time; but I’ll need to buy another. I have plain blue paper from Freegle; one plain white and government-decorators-expensive roll from Tory Boy’s former workplace (he had permission; we’re scavengers, not thieves); and many, many two-thirds-empty tins of various shades of white paint. Spud lives and breathes Manchester City: it will be like he’s sleeping in their boardroom.
I have been doing this makeover for several years now. He has a blue canvas wardrobe (Freegle), almost matching blue curtains (Freegle), a blue rug (charity shop), and a blue light bed throw (stolen from ours one hot summer night). The paper and paint will complete the look.
As a result, I won’t be around to comment much on your blogs over the next week and I might not get to reply to everyone commenting here. Please don’t take it personally. I will still post daily (hooray for the schedule button!) and visit you as much as I can.

When Mother papered the parlour, you couldn’t see her for paste:
dabbing it here, dabbing it there, paste and paper ev-er-y-where
Father got stuck to the ceiling, the kids were stuck to the floor.
You never saw such a blooming family so stuck up before.
My grandad used to sing this at Christmas, only it should be When Father papered etc.
Have a lovely time.

Have fun papering. Cycloman usually goes out while I paper.

Definately a different kind of “Bud”. Luv the song, first time hearing … don’t like wallpaper though {:o)

I don’t like wallpaper much, either, but it’s here and the paint isn’t, so… 🙂

A significant reduction: I must use that when I go on a diet 🙂

We need to redecorate my daughter’s room, too… getting through her stuff is a task in and of itself, though. Have fun with your project!

Thanks. It’s a lot easier with him away. The hard part will be sorting his stuff to put back: where do I put the junk he doesn’t want to keep? He wants to do a boot sale but we’ll have to store it until the Hub feels well enough to take us. Starting to wish I hadn’t bothered now 🙂

Ah Renovations, we are up to our necks in them here too. (well, to be more honest about it, Himself is, I just have to maneuver the sticks past random bits of extra furniture stashed in the living room and the hall)
Purely by chance, Kiwi Daughter (who has no football affiliation) has also chosen light blue for her new room colour too, but with a pink stripe that goes all the way around the middle.
Looks to me like gift wrap LOL but she loves it so … go for it gal!
Happy painting and decorating!!!

It’s good for them to express themselves in their bedrooms. Spud couldn’t care; apart from approving the paper to make sure it was manly enough, he has no preference at all. He never puts up posters and declutters as much as he can.
