File:Harrison's Chronometer H5.JPG

I tend to post at the following times (GMT, or whatever they’re calling it these days because they have to meddle all the time and it’s really not good to meddle with time as I realised this morning when I got up at 5:30 thinking it was 6:30):

  • Joke of the day: between five and six a.m.
  • Daily post: between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m.
  • Afternoon post, if I have one: between 14:30 and four p.m.

I’m thinking of spreading myself more thinly (it’s the only way that’s going to happen):

  • Joke of the day: between five and six a.m.
  • Daily post: between 12:30 and 14:30 p.m.
  • Evening post, if I have one: between 21:30 and eleven p.m.

What do you think?  Leave the scheduling as it is, or spread it out a bit?  To help my foreign readers (most of you; why is that?  And why is my biggest audience in the States?), here’s a time and date site so you can work out when it is now in the UK relative to where you are.

Let’s put a poll in the field (that’s why!  I can quote Aaron Sorkin at will):

I honestly don’t mind when you blog – I get them delivered into my inbox and I read them. I admire you for considering the opinions of others regarding you entertaining us 🙂

I think you’ve noticed now but I rarely schedule a blog post. I just go with my very own flow 🙂

I clicked on ‘sigh’ because you didn’t post a ‘wouldn’t make a difference ’cause I’d try to read them all anyway’ option.

  3. nrhatch October 4, 2011 at 15:23 #

    No rules. Just write. 😀

I wanted to answer the question but I couldn’t stop thinking about how beautiful the clock was. So I’m probably in “What was the question” catagory

It’s Harrison’s chronometer. He fixed time on the sea, or something. Ask Michael Gambon: he played him on tv. 🙂

It’s not when you blog that’s the issue. I really need a blog reader that refuses to let me read blogs until happy-hour otherwise I tend to get behind on chores. 🙂

    • Tilly Bud October 5, 2011 at 10:41 #

      🙂 🙂

I tried to comment on your blog but blogger is playing silly beggars. I haven’t been able to leave comments there for days.

you have more followers in the US because they are all rich people (so I have been told) and they have all day to do blogging..

What about me in Bulgaria..there is only one of me!

Stay as sweet as you are…don’t let a thing rearrange you.
Stay just as you are, don’t let time ever change you

    • Tilly Bud October 5, 2011 at 10:44 #

You know, you’re right! Now, if I can only get those rich readers to invest in this broke blogger…I’d take payment in chocolate.

If you like, I could get up at 2:00am (est) here in the states so we can have virtual tea together at 7:00am (gmt). Then we can plan together what atrocities we are going to foist on the blogosphere for the day.

    • Tilly Bud October 5, 2011 at 10:45 #

I do like, but I think I might be miffed at you calling me an ‘atrocity’ 🙂

      • Big Al October 5, 2011 at 14:08 #

Just trying to make up for that compliment I so slyly slipped in the other day. Forgiven now?

  8. kiwidutch October 4, 2011 at 17:22 #

The time you post shouldn’t really matter because people read any/all posts when they have time at their computer, no matter when that is during the day, once twice, … or almost constantly at the other extreme.’
Match to your own beat, post whenever you want… people who subscribe already have you ‘delivered” and ready and waiting to read when they open their mailboxes.
    Personally I won’t change a thing.

    • Tilly Bud October 5, 2011 at 10:45 #

You make an excellent point, thank you 🙂

  9. Pseu October 4, 2011 at 17:34 #

Why do you post-u-late on when to post?

(Post script: I have voted post haste)

    • Tilly Bud October 5, 2011 at 10:47 #

You had some of Kate’s wine?

      • Pseu October 5, 2011 at 17:23 #

she’s offering wine? Forget the Maltesers.

It’s like TV, I turn it on and if something I like is playing, I leave it on. Dianne

Blurry hell, Tilly, your energy is boundless. I think I’m virtuous posting once a day! Later night posting does torpedo your evening watching though. Think no Corrie or Downton Abbey…

    • Tilly Bud October 5, 2011 at 10:48 #

Ah, I write it all in the morning and schedule it. The up side to having no job 🙂

  12. Christina Does It All October 5, 2011 at 00:20 #

i said no, but the varied answers made me giggle 😛

  13. belleofthecarnival October 5, 2011 at 01:54 #

I will read you at any time 🙂

I have nominated you for the Versatile Bloggers Award. Your blog site is wonderful and I believe that you deserve this award. Please claim your award and follow the three requirements for this award. It is my honor to nominate you for this award. Thank you.

Here are my thoughts on the matter. Go ahead and try the change. See if the rhythm of the new schedule works for you. Get a sense for how it feels and if it feels like a natural fit. If so, stick with it….all of your recipients will adapt! It’s our job to adapt to you—you is da boss of da blog!

  16. Lorna's Voice October 5, 2011 at 14:52 #

I’m just amazed you post three times a day. If I manage one post and catch up with reading all the blogs I follow, I’ve burned 6+ hours. Maybe it’s me and I’m really slow…

  17. speccy October 5, 2011 at 16:13 #

I’m so impressed you have the brain power and energy for 3 posts a day, at any time 🙂

    • Tilly Bud October 7, 2011 at 09:22 #

My family might take issue with you on that statement for several reasons:

      brain power
      three posts a day

  18. Tom (Aquatom1968) October 5, 2011 at 22:11 #

The times that you post seem to be in another, entirely different time zone to the ones that I live in Tilly, I always find myself reading posts hours (probably days!) after they have been posted. My suggestion… post when you like to; I’ll still come back to read! 😀

I welcome your comments but be warned: I'm menopausal and as likely to snarl as smile. Wine or Maltesers are an acceptable bribe; or a compliment about my youthful looks and cheery disposition will do in a pinch.
