A Prompt Too Far

27 Nov

Would you rather be able to read other people’s minds, or live forever?

Sigh.

I may have to leave WordPress.

I did, but IMHO all you need to do is to stop responding to rubbish prompts – but don’t stop giving us your wit and wisdom! Oops – that was bordering on a compliment.

Ignore the prompts – get fitted with solar panels and watch the money trickle down from the roof. The sun peeps over the moor top and: 1.79 Kw at this minute – we can make tea.

    Okay! Okay!

Now who is coming over here and cleaning up all this coffee that I just spewed all over the place!

    Who? Who?

My wife tried to read my mind once … she told me later on, that all she got was a headache.

No I would not like either. If I could read other people’s minds, I would probably be depressed out of mine. Plus it might mean they could read my mind. Besides, I can already read my husband’s mind.

As for living forever, have you ever known a single old person who thought that was a good idea? My idea is to go with the flow where ever it takes me. Dianne

Well, come on now, that really is a mind bender. You can’t expect all the prompts to be easy sacrifices to your rapier wit; even Tilly Bud will have to work the prompts over occasionally. Let’s give this one a go, shall we? I think being able to read people’s minds would be horrible. I can see it sort of like being trapped in a world where there is 24/7 insipid grade school chatter, but with more sex and violence. I mean, I wouldn’t want to know all the sordid details of everyone’s life. Yuck. In fact, I’m pretty sure Dante included being able to read people’s minds in one of the circles of Hell. Or if he didn’t he should have. So, if I absolutely had to pick one, I guess I’d choose live forever. At least if I was going to live forever I could look forward to watching the sun go nova in several billion years, or travel to new solar systems and who can say that? And, if I lived forever, would have all the time I needed to do everything I’ve ever wanted, like say, reach a 90% win ratio on Free Cell. Let’s keep our priorities straight.

This prompt must have been written by some who was suffering from over indulging in the Thanksgiving meal.

    Pffffff….

I’d pick live forever, because I hope after a while I’d be able to read people’s minds. It’s just a matter of practice, isn’t it?

I welcome your comments but be warned: I'm menopausal and as likely to snarl as smile. Wine or Maltesers are an acceptable bribe; or a compliment about my youthful looks and cheery disposition will do in a pinch.
