Last winter on Gorsey Bank (the walk near our house):
I like snow when it covers street garbage. The problem is, the garbage might be covered but the garbage is still there.
It might be a bit of a bleak midwinter here at Bud House: ATOS, the government’s benefit attack dogs, have called the Hub in for a medical. As we hear of people with more serious illnesses being denied state assistance, I can’t help feeling a little anxious.
I do believe the benefits system should be overhauled, but revolutions often bring casualties amongst those who start them. Perhaps it will be our punishment for voting Conservative 🙂
In other news, I had my best month: my December stats currently stand at 15,005. Perhaps I will be discovered, given an obscene book deal, and we can kiss benefits goodbye.
Hope is what keeps me going. I so hope Bella chooses Jake over Edward.
The latest prompt was:
What ordinary skill are you bad at?
How much time do you have?
- Cooking
- Cleaning
- Taking photographs (all non-blurry photos on this blog are the Hub’s work; not mine)
- Driving
- Walking (Spud says I have a wonky walk that is hilarious from behind but difficult to walk alongside)
- Styling my own hair
- Answering prompts sensibly
- Not worrying
Something a little more cheerful:
Happy New Year to my readers!
Rather an obvious Six Word Saturday, but when I have I ever been disobvious? Non-obvious? Unobvious? Whatever.
Happy New Year, and thanks for visiting.

Happy New Year to you, TB! Those are my six for you! I hope the Hub can have what he needs. Thank goodness our (federal) Medicare (people over 65) runs along without many problems. It may soon be cut in funds.
Nice post today. In Texas we are way too conservative. We have cut funds first on those who can’t stand up for their own rights. The seriously mentally ill are no longer confined but instead let off in big bus loads into the cities. Next comes school lunches for the low income, followed by number of teachers in the schools, etc. It started with G W Bush (2nd) and continues on with Perry. Thank goodness that Perry can never be president!
In our part of Texas, near Houston we don’t get snow to cover our sins! 🙂
My stats:
10934 for Jim’s Little Blog — I’ve cut back to 2 or 3 posts a week and have lost readers to FaceBook. I need to cultivate some new ones.
4071 for Jim’s Little Photo and Poem Place — mostly one post per week
5929 for Ask Dr. Jim (blog) — I try to post once per month, just slacking this last year on this one.
20934 total for the year, all three, without today’s final count.
Happy 6WS!

Happy New Year!!!! You are the Mistress of all prompt answerer’s in the universe. I could have included walking, just because I fall quite often (I was going to say that I fall more than I walk but that would be an exaggeration). I am not observant oops.

Goodness what imprssive stats. Would the book be obscene? That poor cat. Snow, what snow, did you get snow?? Dianne

That one slipped by me 🙂 Nice catch. If I wrote an obscene book it would be several hundred pages short than most: I only know one sex word. ‘Headache’.
No snow, thank goodness; the pic is from last year.

Do think of going electronic publisher. I’ve published to books through publishers and believe me unless Oprah tags it and you can promise a yearly second book, you will starve.
You can make much more by hooking up with a place like Smash Words. I see E-small Ebooks such as The Laughing Housewife Lauighing thru January. and you have a book and the format for 11 more.
You don’t get anything up front but get more in the long run.
Check out Harvey Stanbrough http://www.harveystanbrough.com/ He is a font of iiformation on E publishing. Also I have been approached by Metaplume an E-publising group for some of my stuff. We are negotiating with them. They seem like a good way for me to go as my time is limited. You would do well, however, to go with Smash Words. Mention my name to Harvey. He is an angel and fairly priced for E formating.
One rule Don’t give exclusive rights to someone like Amazon or Barnes and Noble.
Hope hubby makes it through.

Thank you for the pingback. The snow makes the tires a little prettier. But I agree with you, they’re still garbage. They need to be recycled.
May you have a blessed and peaceful 2012 – with health benefits. And if not, much luck on the book deal so that you can kiss benefits goodbye.

When you get discovered, and/or given an obscene book deal and/or your own paid column (and I truly hope at least one of these comes your way in 2012), don’t forget you still have to make us back here in the Blogosphere laugh every day for free…
