There Are Stats, Tilly Bud Stats, And Google-Inflated Stats

29 Jan

I never thought there’d come a time when I would be annoyed to have four thousand hits in one day.  That day was yesterday.

Snowflake. Small microscope kept outdoors. Sna...

A large snowflake was measured on 28 January, 1887; I mentioned it in a post in 2010; Google Doodle celebrated the anniversary of that snowflake yesterday.

4,225 people came to my blog in search of a Google Doodle snowflake.  4,225 people went away disappointed, without even so much as one – one, mind you, out of 4,225 – ‘Like’ or comment for my large snowflake post.

I’m annoyed.  My stats are all out of sync now.  Google Doodle better watch it; I’m in the mood to take on a conglomerate.

And what kind of multi-billion pound business celebrates the anniversaries of snowflakes anyway?  I’m so irritated, I’m not even going to provide a link to Google, Google Doodle, or any snowflakes.  That’ll teach ’em.

I’m still laughing. And still getting hits from the blog in which I mentioned the Cheshire Cat several months ago. Interesting what pushes people search finger.

Yes, I know what you mean. My ‘smile’ post still gets regular hits over a year after I wrote it.

This is me commenting! please step away from the Baton! lol! btw you really should watermark this photo before someone steals it as their own. 🙂

    • Tilly Bud January 30, 2012 at 12:58 #

Yes; especially as it belongs to someone else, not me 🙂

I got it from Zemanta, so it should be okay.

here is a comment and a ‘like’ if you had had 4225 comments you might have had to spend the day replying , so be happy that you were able to spend the day bemoaning, as is your want, about ‘stats’

We loves ya TillyB with or without Google Doogle snowflakes

Excellent point, Muss Dubya! There’s always a silver lining 🙂

Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth!

That’s tellin’ em. Can’t let these damn conglomerates push us around. I’m moving to …….. that’ll teach them. 🙂

That would annoy me to no end as well, all those people and no one had the courtesy to click like. I would be a little put out with Google. They have been up to no good lately this is one of the latest bad choices they have made with their privacy sharing of their clients. It’s wrong, I tell you.

Yeah!! I am with Miss Whiplash. Don’t complain. Apparently all 4,000+ Google users visited your site. Dianne

But it makes a mockery of my daily average…

  9. Big Al January 29, 2012 at 18:13 #

Tilly Bud, you are justified to be so righteously indignant. In order to rectify this injustice I am not going to read your next 4225 posts so that you will come out even.

Please call me when it is time to come back. (I’ll probably be deceased so I will leave it in my will that my heirs must pick up where I left off).

I appreciate this, big Al time. I think.

  11. nrhatch January 29, 2012 at 19:44 #

I hate when that happens. 😦

To think a snowflake could have such influence! 🙂

  15. lanceleuven January 29, 2012 at 23:07 #

Scumbags! Out of that many surely some must have appreciated it…

    • Tilly Bud January 30, 2012 at 13:06 #

I’m just not what they were looking for. I get that a lot.

  16. siggiofmaine January 30, 2012 at 01:47 #

As some people are known to say…….no good deed goes unpunished !

And what is wrong with them…not a single “like” or “comment”? Not one with a sense of humor ? Sigh big SIGH.

I hope I made up for it a little bit with stars, a like and post on Facebook ! I have another comment, but not sure if I can say it here. Sigh again.

Thank you Siggi; I really appreciate it 😀

Generally they are click-throughs on their way to other pastures… not a bad thing really. Enjoy the visits for what they are… I had it happen on more than one occasion and I’m always glad for the visits anyway… Enjoy it Tills! 🙂 Hm mm I like that Tills. 🙂

  18. jmgoyder January 30, 2012 at 09:41 #

    Oh this is toooo funny!

  19. speccy January 30, 2012 at 11:49 #

Best not pay too much attention to stats then 🙂
My busiest day ever was a day I hadn’t posted anything. I was a little put out!

    • Tilly Bud January 30, 2012 at 13:09 #

That IS annoying! But it was probably for your previous day’s post.

  20. Viciously Sweet January 31, 2012 at 00:01 #

This is too funny! One time I wrote a post about Jem and the Holograms, and got 2,00 views from people trying to read about J.E.M. Oil. I had a feeling they were disappointed in my coverage of a 1980’s cartoon

  21. evilnymphstuff February 1, 2012 at 14:29 #

It’s true that sometimes we feel that comments and likes are what makes us more sucessful. Views are just… well views.

  22. ferragudofan February 2, 2012 at 10:42 #

that’s pretty funny! and I ‘like’ how many ‘likes’ this post has got instead! 🙂
    and comments!

I welcome your comments but be warned: I'm menopausal and as likely to snarl as smile. Wine or Maltesers are an acceptable bribe; or a compliment about my youthful looks and cheery disposition will do in a pinch.
