I’m Not Ignoring You

I have had two WordPress issues this week: I have had to renew my Facebook connection at least eight times; and most of the blogs I have tried to visit appear to live in the Antarctic (all white screens; hear my frustrated screams).

I do care about you but I’m the elderly aunt who can’t drive and who is waiting on busy nephews and nieces to take her about – I will visit; but it may take a while.

In the meantime, here’s a little something from a blog I did manage to catch between white, white and white screens…

…okay, just tried to visit him and he’s disappeared into the white, like almost everyone else.

Here’s a poem instead:

Help Wanted

WordPress, you suck this week.
Tweak your settings –
I’m getting frustrated;
my visits, belated,
leave readers betting
Tilly Bud’s playing hide-and-go-seek.

I’m begging you, please,
on feeling-old knees,
fix your settings
or I’m going to freak.

You’re an absolute star, Tilly – I think we all have friends in Antarctic or on Greenland.

I haven’t had that problem. Perhaps Hub could help. I’m finding non WP blogs very slow to load – always those ones with black backgrounds and busy sidebars.

I thought you’d gone off me. ;( I agree that some blogs are so difficult to get into. I get dizzy just trying. Happy weekend to you, Tilly.

I have to do something about this paranoia, lol. I thought it was me but it was you! Seriously, I have had to refresh my facebook connection at 10 times, Plinky isn’t able to connect directly to Word Press like it used to. Something is askew over there in the Word Press universe. I don’t know what, but something’s not right.

I had the Facebook issue too. I solved it by ignoring the requests and they just sort of gave up. You just have to treat WordPress like a naughty child. 😉

I had to laugh at this because as your page was loading…I kept seeing the message “Done, but error on the page.” Oh my..do you think
WordPress is paying you back? 🙂

My issue with wordpress and following has been with some of the changes they have made recently. They are suddenly becoming YouTube/Google/Facebook-ish about the changes in that they are randomly fixing stuff that wasn’t broken, and rearranging the furniture in ways that has me stubbing my toes and walking into walls.

For instance, on the stats page, there used to be a tab on the top called “Topics.” GONE. Just gone. Well, then I found it isn’t completely gone. You can still browse by topic (our tags and categories), but it’s at least two clicks in on the side tab, hidden under reader or some such thing. WHY oh WHY wordpress would you make it harder for me to find new posts and blogs about the stuff I like?

The changes they have made since the beginning of the year have been mostly super, and have made my experience at WordPress so much more enjoyable. But now we seem to be just changing for change sake, and it’s pissing me off. No doubt all of this requires new code, and new formatting, and all kinds of wingy dingy stuff that I don’t grasp on the technical side of things. These changes cause ripples, and I have no doubt they are connected to your troubles.

By the way, since there is no “contact us” for those of us who are not premium members, I had to slip this concern in under an unrelated topic on WordPress’s Facebook. I hope someone noticed and gives a hoot.

      So it’s not just me!

It is so frustrating, especially when I can’t visit everyone’s blogs.

The FB idea was a good one.

There are definitely gremilns in cyberspace, Tilly. A whole post disappeared in the middle of the day: people could only read the comments, not the original piece! What the Dickens….

WordPress has Til in a dither
I hope her resolve doesn’t wither
    But what ever the case
She must stay in this place
And not run around hither and thither.

Syncing it? Do you mean clicking on that yellow box? I keep re-connecting and it keeps going away again.

I haven’t experienced any problems, but don’t have FB, so no FB links on my blog – perhaps there’s just a hitch with that, or perhaps the WP gremlins are trying to scare you into flattery, Tilly

I’ve been too busy to send support my concern over the same matter. I always got my WP posts on my FB personal page because I added it years back. Since that Refresh Your Connection showed up on my blog, it has screwed everything up. I’ve had to delete the WP posts on my personal facebook page because they are showing up in HTML! Since yesterday, they’ve stopped showing up all together and it keeps asking me to refresh… Maybe now I said it here, I’ll copy Support on this! TY 😦

I think WordPress is playing copycat with Facebook, now tweaking things that work just fine. A few weeks ago it was the comments we automatically got subscribed too. This week it looks like the Facebook connection is the problem. I’m glad I don’t use it! I wish they would just leave things be if they work fine. Didn’t all IT departments think like that? If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it?
