Tearing My Hair Out

26 May

Posting for Six Word Saturday…maybe*

If I am lucky enough to access your blog, the ‘Like’ button works but when I write a comment, all I get is the ‘Posting Comment’ box, forever, but it never does actually post the comment.  On some blogs, comments on one post work but not on another.  A new glitch this morning was the absence of photos.

If I go bald, it was WordPress inflicted.

A vision of my future if I stay with WordPress. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

I’m off to take my rage out on the garden.  It’s a mess, too, but at least I can fix that.

*It depends on whether I can access the 6WS blog; and if I do, whether it will let me link; and if it does and you aren’t having the same problem, I will reply if I can but it depends on whether I get white screen; and if I don’t and I can access your blog, it depends on whether it will let me comment.  So, thank you for visiting and consider me with you in spirit, at least.

Hacked-off of Stockport

Just tried to preview this post and all I got was…white screen!

Here, take it!  Faults and all!

Some comment boxes on some blogs are cut off or do strange things when you try to post. “Don’t do damage in the garden” is what my mom always tells me when I take my pruning shears and head for the therapy/blowing off steam bushes.

    • Tilly Bud May 26, 2012 at 11:04 #

My garden cannot be damaged. It’s dreadful. The best we hope for is tidy.

  2. adinparadise May 26, 2012 at 09:18 #

Keep your hair on, Tilly! Easy for me to say, as I’m not having the same problems as you are. Hugs.

There is nothing more frustrating as when computer, laptop, internet or provider are not working as they should. It’s really driving me mad at times. Had a bug in mine – … Ad-ware found it and removed it, since then it has been working fine.

    • Viveka May 26, 2012 at 09:23 #

http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ – here is a program .. I used for over 10 years – FREE and you do nothing more then download … analyze and clean, can’t do anything wrong and it will clean out your computer or laptop of all the shit that shouldn’t be there. Don’t change anything and it will speed up your computer too. Every time you go on internet it saves on to your computer and you have to clean once a week. Brilliant program.

Poor Tilly. Not having the same problems as you. For a while the comment boxes kept jiggling about, and I couldn’t ‘like’ wordpress blogs, but things have eased lately. Perhaps they’re working on it. Oh NO, this one’s jiggling about again now. Do you have a tame WP support person alias Happy Engineer? I got the white screen on preview last night, when I had uploaded 36 pix, but it worked the second time I tried. I’ll put your link on 6-w-Sat for you (it’s not long been up)

    • Tilly Bud May 26, 2012 at 09:36 #

Thanks Viv. I managed to link. Accessed you through 6WS as well, but not everyone. Weird.

      • vivinfrance May 26, 2012 at 09:40 #

I linked you as well – it must have been simultaneous! I suggested in reply to you that possibly a look at your settings could be useful.

    • Tilly Bud May 26, 2012 at 11:01 #

      Thanks Viv.

Going to give it another couple of days and then I’ll contact them. Sometimes problems just go away.

I have also had a lot of problems and have done a post to WordPress threatening to change to blogger..whatever is happening? It never used to be like this until they went to a meeting a few months ago..then it all started going to pot.
I am sorry that you are having troubles,, but we still love you at least i do!

    • Tilly Bud May 26, 2012 at 11:00 #

Thank you. Yours is one of the blogs I’ve had trouble getting to. Managed the occasional ‘Like’ but failed to comment.

  6. jmgoyder May 26, 2012 at 09:49 #

So far I haven’t been afflicted but have heard of many others who are – argh!

    • Tilly Bud May 26, 2012 at 10:59 #

      I am going slowly mad.

      • jmgoyder May 26, 2012 at 11:05 #

It doesn’t seem to be happening down under – YET!
Just chill, have a glass of wine and stomp on your computer (no, no, no, I didn’t mean that last thing!)

        • Tilly Bud May 26, 2012 at 11:07 #

Like the first two instructions; Hub might divorce me if I do the last one 🙂

  7. Elaine May 26, 2012 at 09:49 #

WordPress seems ok for me at the moment, but I have noticed an advert at the bottom of your post (and someone else’s I looked at yesterday) which is not normally there. What are WP playing at?

  8. vbr May 26, 2012 at 10:25 #

The computer. The menace. Some days it is all I can do not to throw the thing against the wall! I understand your frustration with this and the whole threat to your hair. Do, please, hang in there trying because I love to visit your blog! You always make me smile.

  9. Ron. May 26, 2012 at 11:01 #

My Beloved Sandra hadda play techangel for me. Took her two days to debug me, make sure all my ware was malfree. Oy.

    I hear ya, lady.

    • Tilly Bud May 26, 2012 at 11:02 #

At least you have that magnificent moustache to hold on to 🙂

  10. magicalmysticalteacher May 26, 2012 at 12:47 #

With or without hair, I’m sure you’ll look just fine!

    My 6WS

  11. Elaine May 26, 2012 at 14:09 #

    Can’t see the advert now.

  12. Karen S. May 26, 2012 at 14:10 #

I so know what you;re feeling…..too much rain over the internet waves?!!!!!

  13. terry1954 May 26, 2012 at 14:18 #

    we understand!

  14. laurieanichols May 26, 2012 at 15:22 #

I’m so sorry about your computer woes, I’m having the occasional issue myself, I miss your comments dear Tilly and I hope that your gardening goes well. Go gently on the pruning, it does grow back but it can take a while.

    • Jeanie May 26, 2012 at 15:31 #

LOL…if blog/computer problems resulted in hair loss my head would be as shiny as a bowling ball.

      • Tilly Bud May 28, 2012 at 11:54 #

We should start a club 🙂

Sorry I can’t return the visit; there’s no link.

  15. RoryBore May 26, 2012 at 17:02 #

did you smack it hard enough?
that seems to work for me. the hubby disagrees. I remain steadfast that my computer likes it a bit on the rough side 😉

when I get that “posting comment” box forever, I find Refreshing the page often works. good luck!

    • Tilly Bud May 28, 2012 at 11:55 #

Tried that…sigh…I lose the comments and have to re-type them.

  16. restlessjo May 26, 2012 at 19:58 #

Mine would’ve gone through the window by now (I’d open it first- keep costs down!)
My posting comments is pretty slow sometimes and I lose patience and go off and comment somewhere else. Then when I come back it’s sometimes there, sometimes not.

  17. kiwidutch May 26, 2012 at 19:58 #

I have no clue what to recommend because my WordPress is on it’s best behaviour and functioning perfectly (even when I’m not LOL).
Maybe delete all your cookies, clear the cache and start again?… maybe that will clean out the glitch? … contact the WP forum and ask someone with more technical knowledge than me (Ok that’s *anyone* btw)
I’m the one who sat for almost an hour this morning trying to make a new YouTube channel for Little Mr … and failed miserably because it asks for a name at the top of the start up page and no matter what I put in it doesn’t accept it.
I closed the computer and walked away for the rest of the day, it was so frustrating.
I hope your WorlPress feels better soon.

  18. robincoyle May 26, 2012 at 22:19 #

I have the solution for you Tilly! I had the same problem and I help Tess over at Let’s Cut the Crap solve her issue too.

Go to the Askimet site here:http://akismet.com/contact/

Type in the question box something like “trouble making comments” and a short form pops up for you to fill out and submit explaining the problem.

It took a day or so, but someone named Mark helped both me and Tess. Good luck and I hope you can keep your hair in tact. Mine has started growing back. Barely.

  19. bluebee May 27, 2012 at 02:15 #

Have you tried clearing your internet history and doing a disk cleanup on your computer? Perhaps it’s something to do with a full cache memory.

    • Tilly Bud May 28, 2012 at 11:59 #

No, I haven’t. Time to roll out the Hub…

  20. Jim May 27, 2012 at 03:07 #

Things seem to be working better this evening, T.B. Please don’t tear your hair out! 🙂 I have problems with leaving the Blogger comments in that It will double post with only one click. For the sake of the blogger, I delete the extra myself.
    Jim’s Six Word Saturday
. I hope things are better for you soon. Green thumbs must run in the family, your mom has a pretty garden too.

    • Tilly Bud May 28, 2012 at 12:00 #

Jim, I’m a little confused that you keep mentioning my Mum. She’s been dead four years.

  21. McGuffyAnn May 27, 2012 at 18:02 #

I am not sure what it is, but it seems Word Press & Google have had issues.
I won’t even go into the cell phone updates. The more technical we get the more issues we create. So much for making life easier & more simple.

  22. eof737 May 27, 2012 at 19:03 #

Have you reached out to support? I noticed some slowing of my commenting button and a few other hiccups too… maybe they are going through a maintenance glitch. 😦

    • Tilly Bud May 28, 2012 at 12:05 #

I plan to do it this week, if things don’t improve. As other people are having problems, I suspect they are aware of the issues. I hope so!

  23. Linda @ Truthful Tidbits June 2, 2012 at 22:33 #

I don’t tear my hair out…it is just coming out on its own each time I brush it! Yikes!

Hope your issues clear up. Try not to stress!

    Happy Saturday!

I welcome your comments but be warned: I'm menopausal and as likely to snarl as smile. Wine or Maltesers are an acceptable bribe; or a compliment about my youthful looks and cheery disposition will do in a pinch.
