Diamond Jubilee Weekend.

God Save Our Gracious Queen!

I know it’s five words, not six, but we British are famous for understatement.

There are over nine thousand street parties planned over the next few days, not one of them in my area.  There is a Jubilee picnic at my church, which I had planned to attend; but I received an invitation to my great-nephew’s christening, and I want to go to that.

I’ll be spending the day looking forward, not back.  Not a bad way to approach life.

Will the great-nephew’s christening be jubilee themed??

I’ll spend the day lamenting the fact that the kids won’t wear their jubilee t-shirts. The big chains make the cash and I don’t even get a cute photo…

Ron, do I gather you’ve been celebrating already?

Tilly I honour your sense of priorities. Can you record the procession? I shall be poeming, but by hook or by crook I wanna see that Gloriana boat.

It is! But it’s about a fifth of those held for 1977’s Silver Jubilee. ” million people this year; 10 million people back then.

You will have a lovely time at the christening, there is a cute baby to hold and fuss over and then hand back over to the parents. Forward is a good mindset, it’s easier moving forwards than backwards less chance of tripping.

He is the cutest child, but he’s turned one, so isn’t so keen on being held anymore 😦

it is a wonderful way to live life, looking to the future, never looking back on our mistakes we made

Well, I think we might need to look at some, if only to avoid making them again. But not dwelling on them is important.

That is a shame. You should have organised something 🙂

Call your friends now and tell them to bring a bottle, a plate of food, and red, white and blue anything!

And I hope all of the UK have a super day, I think the Queen is great.

I’m sure they will. The press is always gloomy beforehand, saying there’s no appetite for this sort of thing, then the public come out and surprise them with their enthusiasm 🙂

You know I actually remember when she was crowned. My Dad bought me the View Master reels of the coronation. For years I thought we were part of the British Empire. National Public Telvision is broadcasting the events here all weekend. Dianne
