As you all know, given how much I have complained about it, I have had the busiest summer on record.
This week, I was supposed to be hamming it up at my church’s annual holiday club for under-tens. I had to request a sabbatical. I am what is technically known in the business as knackered.
Today is a public holiday in the UK, the last one before Christmas. Traditionally, Brits like to spend it barbecuing. What Brits actually do is veg in front of the TV.
I am not a woman to let down my country.
See you tomorrow.
I did that yesterday, but am still knackered. The problem is that the garden is in a jungle state, and there are other things to do. I just picked a mountain of runner beans to freeze, then noticed that the courgettes were, unaccountably, suddenly large marrows. I am now in search of a chutney recipe,d as we don’t like marrow!

Hope you find something good on the tv to watch – traditionally it’s awful stuff on a bank holiday!

Shoot. Even when you’re being flaky you are funny.
But, what is the occasion? A patriotic holiday?

Nope, just a bank holiday. I think they originated with banks giving their employees a day off to go by train to the seaside.
I have to look it up now.

Here you go:
A bank holiday is a public holiday in the United Kingdom or a colloquialism for public holiday in Ireland. There is no automatic right to time off on these days, although banks close and the majority of the population is granted time off work or extra pay for working on these days, depending on their contract.[1] The first official bank holidays were the four days named in the Bank Holidays Act 1871, but today the term is colloquially (albeit incorrectly) used for public holidays which are not officially bank holidays, for example Good Friday and Christmas Day.

Whenever I hear knackered, I think of knickers, don’t know why. You my dear deserve the day of rest you have had too many visitors. Take the national holiday with the nation and celebrate with the t.v. See you tomorrow.

We don’t have a holiday here, only political conventions and hurricanes. Lots of hot air either way. Dianne

I never got into the whole refrigerator magnet and picture thing. Maybe because I never had children? Maybe because I just like my refrigerator to be cleaner? I don’t know. I do know that I have bulletin boards in all the rooms so that people can put that kind of stuff on the bulletin boards instead of my $2,000 refrigerator……..lol

When I bought my fridge (about a tenth of the cost of yours), I threw away my fridge magnets. But I’ve had it about six years now, maybe longer, so the magnets have crept back in.

I am still playing catch-up after a week away. I am sitting on the couch with my ‘poor sore leg’ in the air and I think I slept for half the morning! I may do the same again this afternoon.
