Another blogger is coming to lunch today! It took some delicate negotiating, given my self-confessed stalking tendencies. She agreed to come here only after I assured her we have a back door through which she can escape if my self-absorbed monopolising of the conversation becomes too much for her. She doesn’t know the back gate is locked and she’ll have to climb up onto the roof of the new shed and over the fence. I have warned her not to wear heels, just in case.
Excluding Viv, who I count as my OU friend who also blogs, not as my blogging friend who I met through the OU, she will be the first friend I have made through blogging who I will have met in person. She will be pleased to learn that my everyday conversation is not as convoluted as that last sentence.
I have almost met one other blogger – Sarah, she of the blog named after a disease (Sarsm). Sarah regularly phones me from Germany and I love our chats. We know each other well, without having met. I love the internet. And her cheap rate telephone contract.
Don’t expect any photos of today. My Mystery Guest doesn’t post any of herself or her family on her own blog, so I have to respect that, no matter how much I sulk.
I’ll ask her if I can at least take one like this:
Or this:
I’ll tell you all about it over the weekend, if she hasn’t sworn me to secrecy; or taken out the inevitable restraining order.
Have you ever met any of your blogging friends? Were the police involved?
Thanks for the plug, friend. Have a nice time (though I thought you didn’t ‘do’ lunch).
I met another blogger in real life on Sunday, and his wife, in Coutances Cathedral (by arrangement) . They were lovely people and we had a really fun and friendly time, sitting in the sun outside a nearby bistro. They are travelling through France photographing Romanexque Churches: http://vialucispress.wordpress.com/2012/09/11/topsy-turvy-in-bretagne-dennis-aubrey/

I’ve met some of mine (Speccy and Grannymar) at the Irish Blog Awards, and it turns out that Jo lives about 5 miles from me and sher kids all went to the same school as mine.
And Kick Out The Jams had been commenting on my blog for about a year before something I said made him realize that we had played on the same cricket team in the 1990s.
Hope today goes well. If you ever come her you can be my mystery guest

Wish you a fantastic weekend .. with you guest – I’m sure there will not be a dull moment. Haven’t met any of my blogging friends, but it was close in Seattle – but family matters came in the way in the last minute for Manchester I will be coming over and don’t worry – high heels are only for taxi journeys. Been a lot at your destination – had a supplier there for many years.

You can stay over, if you like. Just discuss dates before you book, in case we are busy that weekend. We are not often busy, but it’s Murphy’s Law that we will be when we don’t want to be.

Hi Tilly, yes I am meeting a blog friend in three weeks. I will be in California to visit my son and his family and she (Mage) lives nearby. Mage has promised to feed me. As we are both in Weight Watchers, I don’t think the food will be posted via photos on my blog. As I told you eons ago, I have you on my bucket list.
Because I live in Washington, several blog people have driven by (we live 5 minutes from I95). But, no one comes to see me anymore. Our house has been wrecked by dogs, cats and birds, and the only people who I grant admittance are the cleaning people, the plumber and the furnace guys.

Going to my very first Blogger Conference next month! I only sorta kinda know one person that will be there. I have visions of us running slow motion towards one another and it being as fabulous as our online chats. Let’s hope! There are other names I am familiar with, but don’t really interact with too much. It will be exciting, interesting and no doubt nerve-wracking!

Yes, I have treated many bloggers to lunch or dinner at home or a restaurant and have even shown the sights to a few of them. However, I have also deleted a few from my Blogroll after they insulted me. Sad.

I’m actually meeting a blogger from Japan who is on a three-week visit to Helsinki for work. We’re taking him out for a bbq lunch by the sea and hoping to show him the Finnish rustic way of life. So I thought we might try to smoke a salmon or grill fish on an open fire except that we’ve never tried all this before 😀 so we’re keeping our fingers crossed that all goes well and nobody will catch on fire. I’m sure your lunch will be a more regular affair – or maybe not. hehe Enjoy!

I was fortunate to have been short listed for all the Irish Blog awards since 2007 and through that, met about 200-300 Irish Bloggers in person, Since then I met Bloggers based in England, India, Utah and Newfoundland. I have often said that with blogging we get to know the person from the inside without the distraction of the packaging. I have never been disappointed.
