The Best. Gifts. Ever.

4 Oct

It started last week, when this arrived through the letterbox:

Then this:

And this:

Finally, this:

They were my birthday present from Sarah in Germany, who you know better as the disease, Sarsm.  An accompanying note indicated that there was something for an emergency supply; something fun; something addictive; and something that would help me deal with unwanted guests.

The note didn’t arrive until the third item, so you can imagine my bemusement, especially with the rubber egg.

The best gift arrived last, on Saturday morning.  I was expecting a parcel from Viv (which turned out to be a beautiful jumper I haven’t taken off for three days. Thank you, Viv) so I assumed it was that, and I saved it for my birthday.  You should have seen my face when I opened it to find a pack of 30 paper plates.  I was on the other side of my face, but I know it was a picture of bafflement.

Thank you, Sarah, for four days of fun, laughter and what-the-heckness?

The best gifts ever

The Maltesers are obviously the fun, the addictive and the emergency supply, so are the other three all for getting rid of unwanted guests?
If so I don’t want to know what happens with the rubber egg.

Great gifts! I too, was wondering about the rubber egg? 🙂

Will we see a photo of the beautiful jumper?

Ola (one of my geese) just gave birth to an enormous egg today – her first. Would you like it birthday girl?

    But . . .
something for an emergency supply would be the tiny tin of M’s
something fun would be the goofy egg (she loves eggs, btw)
something addictive would be those (I assume) magnetized bb’s and
something that would help deal with unwanted guests would be the paper plates, right?
Although, I think the Maltesers would have served for all four categories?

I’m worried about commenting here, will my comments merit me keeping my Malteser Privileges, oh gosh I do hope so. I’d have loved to have seen your face when you opened the paper plates and surely everyone knows that the rubber egg is to be used with force should anyone get near enough to snaffle your Maltesers.

It’s fine to comment so long as you don’t compliment… I;m too British to take kind remarks well meant with grace 🙂

I like the way you think and your idea is so good you can bank it against any future (1) compliment you might accidentally make.

I note that the chocs came first. What is the third one? It’s very pretty what ever it is. 🙂

You are a “riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma,” Tilly. Bob Dylan annoys you, but you are giddy over an egg, bbs and paper plates. I’ll give you a pass on the Malteasers! You march to your own beat, don’t you! I must say that I like people who lead their own unique parade! Happy belated birthday! D

Reminds me of that age old question. Which came first, the rubber egg or the rubber chicken?

You can never have too many paper plates, or in your case Maltesers. The rubber egg I’m at a loss, does it bounce? I would be playing with the magnetic beads.

I love this idea is it ok to steal it as I have a friend who lives further afield and I’d think she’d love the thought – I will make up my own gifts and uses hmmm the ideas are starting to flow. I also agree the sweets could have applied to all lol

You should definitely steal it because I enjoyed it so much, I want to share the feeling.

I welcome your comments but be warned: I'm menopausal and as likely to snarl as smile. Wine or Maltesers are an acceptable bribe; or a compliment about my youthful looks and cheery disposition will do in a pinch.
