Dutch Treat or, The Kind People You Meet In Blogging.

*

Knock knock!

Who’s there?

The courier.

The courier who?

The courier who’s bringing you a parcel and would like to get home for his dinner after a long day of traffic jams, bad weather and suspicious people who won’t open the door and take this *%^£! parcel off my hands so I can get back to my own wife and family.  We celebrate Christmas too, you know; they’d like me to be there.

An unexpected parcel arrives.

I open it (obviously).

Who sent me a notebook?

A broken notebook, because I hear rattling?

No, wait!  It’s even better than an electronic gadget – it’s…food!

Dutch food, from my kind and generous blogging friend, KiwiDutch. Please visit her blog, because it’s cheaper than sending a ‘thank you’ card.

We have eaten the perishables (yummy) and saved the rest for Christmas.

Thank you for the lovely surprise, KiwiDutch!

And while I’m thanking people:

I think we all get this subtle hint of being your faithful reader/follower, Tilly. The expectations on your poor readers are simply too high. I’ve decided to un-follow you. One can’t just send you a mass-produced Christmas card, no, that won’t do, one must send a BOX, and not a small box, it has to be huge, and courier delivered! Now KiwiDutch has set this new trend……

I immediately checked my stats to see if you were joking about un-following me. Phew!

I have the best, kindest and most generous readers in the blogosphere.

No, that was not a Thank You note in EVERY language. You can add 2 more at least: 谢谢 (Chinese) xièxie and Terima Kasih (Malay).

Very nice! I think Kiwidutch may be tired of reading about Maltesers and would like you to try other treats. 🙂

After being in bed hiding from the kids yesterday (their last day In school) with sniffles and wheezing that they politely gifted to me several weeks earlier and then shook off themselves, After coughing like crazy and only 4 hours sleep last night I came out from under the covers because Kiwi Daughter announced that she had offered to “do dessert” for an end of year do for 18-20 people and then made it clear that Mama will probably actually be the one doing most of this work.
Ok, so a home made ice-cream taart is in the freezer and the gingerbread dough is in the fridge waiting for kids to roll it tomorrow morning and I left the kids with Himself and retreated back to bed for the afternoon. Therefore you can not imagine what a nice surprise this post was to wake up to later this afternoon… cheered me up no end!

Opps sorry about the computer box, “hoax” but take it from me… you don;t want this model, Himself has already sent the rotten thing back to the company for repair twice and he’s only had it for four months,
We kept the box in case it had to go back (again!) but I didn’t think it would get that far, it was this week with our computer expert again, after giving yet another sudden stop, black screen turn itself off malfunctions (four of them in a few hours) and I think if it stays like this then Himself is going to be tempted to give it flying lessons off our third floor balcony.

Each time it comes back from the factory they say it’s in perfect working order… we start to wonder if they are actually examining our machine because it repeats its behaviour the minute it arrives back here.
It would be fine if it remembers what it had been doing when it had it;s brain-fade episode but sadly it takes all your work with it., so no Tilly, even gifting this rotten little machine to someone would have been a nasty trick. Food is definitely better 🙂

    Enjoy the goodies!!!! Merry Christmas!!!

I welcome your comments but be warned: I'm menopausal and as likely to snarl as smile. Wine or Maltesers are an acceptable bribe; or a compliment about my youthful looks and cheery disposition will do in a pinch.
