We haven’t had a news round-up in a while. It’s all about animals today, from The Telegraph website. Visit the site for full details.
Giant Rabbit Sees Off Burglar
A family’s pet rabbit disturbed a burglar and made such a racket, he frightened the thief away.
The rabbit sleeps in a labrador cage in the house. He was pretty shaken up and tried to go for a policeman who came to investigate.
I’ve never liked rabbits since I took Tory Boy on a pre-school trip to a local farm and we were warned not to let the children put their fingers through the bars because the rabbits often mistake them for carrots…
Owl Radiates Anxiety
This poor bird was hit by a car and became trapped in the grille for 24 hours. Fortunately, observant motorists (not the driver, obviously) spotted it and it was rescued, unharmed.
How Much Is That Doggie In The Window Annoying You?
This story sounds amusing but it’s really not: a woman suffering a form of tinnitus known as musical hallucination has heard the song, How Much Is That Doggie In The Window? in her head for three solid years.
And now you will too:
And Finally…
I came across this one on Facebook. It’s a hamster who likes to play dead:
Can’t beat a cute animal story!

That is a well fed hamster! The poor owl and that poor woman with tinnitus. I hope that the Hub is feeling okay and hasn’t come down with the full effects of that awful bug that got you and Spud. 🙂

I heard the owl story on our news service here (must have been a slow news day). When I first saw the rabbit story, I had just read your rabbit joke and thought, “Linda is doing a theme posts here,” but then I realized you were doing more animals and not a theme and I felt foolish. Not foolish, actually, just a bit out of it. Now I’m singing “How much is that doggie in the window?” I used to love that song when I was a child. Guess I’m in my second childhood. See what you’ve done to me, Linda?

1. What a hare-raising experience for that burglar.
2. Cute story, but who gives a hoot?
3. I thought that song was done by Joe Cocker, not Patti Page.
4. I smell a rat!

Tilly, I saw that owl story on the news and was baffled as to how it had managed to get behind the grill. Beautiful eyes, though! And I refused to play How Much Is That Doggie In The Window… I’ve only just got rid of Two Little Boys!
