Coughsnotty And A Poll

Toilet roll holder

You know those times when you are there but not all there?  (Don’t say that’s just me)  That’s how I’ve been this week in the blogging world.

Sorry the posts have been weak and unfunny.  I don’t know if it’s because this is a particularly nasty bug or because it takes longer to recover as we get older, but my head hasn’t been in the game.  Mostly, it’s been buried in a box of tissues (and then a toilet roll, when the tissues ran out).

I thought I was feeling better yesterday: I showered, walked the dogs and cooked a proper meal.  Then I collapsed into bed in the afternoon, too weak to watch Dancing On Ice while catching up on comments.

I’m fed up with myself and to add to my misery, a couple of commenters mentioned that Word Ads have appeared on my blog.  I haven’t signed up to them so I must investigate.  That’s where the poll comes in:

I tried signing out of my blog to look for myself, but I can’t see any adverts.  If you answered ‘Yes’, would you mind leaving a comment saying where they appear?

I need to know so I can kick up a fuss.  As soon as I have the energy to raise my leg.

I can’t see any ads. A while ago someone told me that they could see ads on my blog, which made me cross, so I had a look at all the WordPress info. Apparently if we use the free version of WordPress then very occasionally ads will appear on our blogs. They seem to be random and as little as possible. WordPress says that the only way to ensure we don’t have them is to pay to upgrade to their other version. So, if you already pay then you should certainly kick up a fuss!!
Sorry you’ve still got the horrid virus. ;(

Sorry you are still not feeling your best. I do not see ads on your blog. But …. I have had the same concerns with mine. I personally don’t see ads on my own blog, but I learned that that is how WordPress does it …. if they put an ad on your blog, you won’t see it. My daughter-in-law took a screenshot once and sent it to me, and I was horrified. I had no idea that ads were showing up there. Looking into it a little more, I believe you have to pay to have the ads removed. I’m still trying to figure it all out. But, bottom line, I have not seen a pesky ad on your blog. 🙂

I do not see any ads on this blog. Mind you I never read any ads on blogs where people encourage them.

Never seen an ad here unless the picture at the top is an ad for toilet paper.

Hi Tilly, search and you will find them!

I’ve seen them when I’ve been viewing my site from my mobile phone, so not logged in to WordPress, and I’ve just checked your site by using the Opera browser, so again I’m not logged in. Hope this helps… and if you can’t view the image let me know – it’s a screenshot of your blog showing the ads!

Ads appear on my blog when people look at it via facebook. Generally they are ads for getting rid of a fat tummy.

I have noticed that when I am logged out of WP and go to any blog including my blog then ads do appear.

I am feeling groggy too so I can relate, also feel my blog is being neglected. Need Maltesers …

There were no ads on your site. Most often I have found them right at the end of the post, in the same box as the post, but before the Like button. But there were none on your site.

I could see the ads on the link provided by Tom (above), but not when I look while logged into WordPress.

“coughsnotty” that’s fun to say! my kids will love it. bet I get a teacher’s note though 🙂
I don’t see any ads — anyone who does – they likely are loaded on theircomputer – not yours. That happened here: hubby could see ads on my blog on the desktop computer — but I didn’t see any using my laptop or iphone.
I feel your cold misery though — and this was supposed to be our big romantic weekend! stupid bug. although, last romantic weekend (um…3 years ago) I ended up pregnant.
I’ll stick at 3 kids and coughsnotty! 😉

I really hope that you’re fighting fit again soon.

I had the same thing, a reader told me there were ads on my page and it seems to be that if you don’t upgrade and pay for WP, then they attach ads when they feel like it.

I forget because I always have an ad blocker on. I don’t know how people can go on Facebook without one – the ads are terrible. Totally distracting.

    Hugs.

I see nothing. WordAds are for domain created.com blogs. They might place a video now and then but I see nada. 🙂

I welcome your comments but be warned: I'm menopausal and as likely to snarl as smile. Wine or Maltesers are an acceptable bribe; or a compliment about my youthful looks and cheery disposition will do in a pinch.
