Many of us think of our lives as boringly normal, while others live the high life. Take a step back, and take a look at your life as an outsider might. Now, tell us at least six unique, exciting, or just plain odd things about yourself.
- I can curl my tongue and my toes at the same time
- I can tap dance
- I cannot blow my nose in public or while wearing glasses
- I have been on telly several times
- I can read upside down
- I cannot tell a joke without forgetting the punchline
- At one time or another, I have boycotted every supermarket in which I could afford to shop
- If you mispronounce a word in my presence, I will not hear anything you say after that
- I have dual nationality
- I alphabetize CDs and DVDs; books are filed in size order
- I cannot drink coffee, or kiss anyone who has it on their breath
- I advocate organ donation as the ultimate form of recycling
- I have a loud and irritating laugh
- I have had my present phone about two years and I still cannot switch it on without help
- I am shy and easily embarrassed (not unique but probably surprising to regular readers)
- I don’t understand people who don’t vote
- I am short with large feet, rather like a hobbit (I dress like one, too)
- Stray apostrophes set my teeth on edge
- I once had a one-act play staged at the Everyman Theatre in Liverpool
- I like to trot that last one out at every opportunity
- My definition of ‘unique, exciting, or just plain odd’ is surprisingly dull
Love your list!
(And NO ONE should blow their nose in public, ick)

Should they wipe it on their sleeve then? Or sniff?

I’ve been on telly several times, Tilly, never remember punchlines or know how to use my mobile phone properly as well… so we’re kind of quite similar. It’s not very unique though… being similar… 😉

How singular 🙂

Rather enjoyed your list…did have to chuckle at a couple of them.

Books in size order? Don’t think they’ve found a cure for that yet…

You are everything that is not dull; funny, witty, kind, loving, intelligent, empathetic, generous and I could go on, there is no room for dull.

We have rather a lot in common!

“I advocate organ donation as the ultimate form of recycling” <- This made me laugh. I'd never thought of it like that before! I have a German organ donor card – it's not like I'm going to need them when I'm dead!
Voting… I got incredibly excited about being allowed to vote for Karlsruhe's new mayor. Not being German, I can only vote for very specific things. I've never voted in an English election. I am entitled to, but am not registered for a postal vote.

Fair enough. But you are engaged in what’s going on about you, and that’s what matters.

‘Dull’ is the last word I’d use to describe you. And I wish you’d correct my stray apostrophes (I’ve developed a kind of punctuation dyslexia in middle age) I don’t want you to suffer needlessly. PS I often laugh too loud and too long, and when I was young I used to call lingerie “linger rie” Are your teeth on edge? Good! I had root canal this morning 😯

I’ve had that! I feel your pain and therefore forgive your apostrophes 🙂

Guess you showed Word Press! How could they have asked for only six when they knew you would answer the prompt and had a great long list that would trump ANYONE’S? You definitely win. You should be Freshly Pressed in my opinion for having the most unique qualities of any blogger. There now. I’ve said my piece.

OK: having not met you (yet) but having spoken to you, I can tell you: you have a lovely laugh – I am the one with the loud and I would say embarrassing laugh.
When we do meet (which we shall) I I will listen attentively to every detail about each of your TV appearances and your play (I am the ultimate groupie – I was once married to a musician). But I promise not to kiss you with my coffee breath.
I will, however, totally embarrass you with my very loud laugh.
We can discuss just why books should also be alphabetized.
And when we’ve finished all that I’ll attempt to help you switch on your phone and you can laugh, sweetly, while I shuggle mine.

Not dull at all!
I think we need some follow-up posts as a result of this – tap dancing, your tv appearances, a synopsis of your play for starters. 😉

I would say my shape is kinda round. What shape are you? No seriously, my mother suffered a severe case of food poisoning while pregnant with me & who knows what effect that had on my development. But I was born with a whole lot of little problems, nothing too critical, but definitely not right. My multiple surgeries were to to try to “fix” me.

Read?! I can do Word Jumbles upside down better than most people can do them rightside up!
But I only boycott the stores I could not possible afford to shop!
But I’m right with you on the strays — take them to the animal shelter, quick!

Everyone is. But I have studied the matter and I think, perhaps, it is easier for anyone to do them upside-down because we ignore the usual expectations about words and are freer to recombine them in some unknown part of the brain. It’s worth a study, I think. Maybe LD kids could do better that way, too. (I’m not . . .)
