Boring

Moving poems from folder to folder

The Hub is in bed because he’s unwell.

Spud is in bed because he’s a teenager.

I thought I’d take advantage of the peace and update my poem folders.  I had a list of roughly 1500 poems which needed to be categorised.  I did that with the hard copies months ago but never got around to updating it on the computer. The title of this post will tell you why.

I moved all the As last week; then the Bs to Rs.  I still have the Ss to Zs to move and I can’t put it off any longer.

Once that’s complete, I’ll avoid matching the hard copy folders to the computer folders for as long as I can, but it will have to be done eventually.

Wake me up before you leave.

Go here for more Six Word Saturdays.  I recommend that you do – they’ve got to be more interesting than this post.

Oh, I do love that video!

I think it’s great that you’re doing all that work. My poems are an unorganized mess. Want to help? 😉

    Have a great Saturday!

Lol. Hard copies??? Glad I’m just a blogger, not a poet. Sounds too much like work. 🙂

It is, but it’s worth it – choosing the right poem means a better chance of publication; and I can’t find the right poem if I don’t know where to look.

Sorting and organizing is just like housework, you dread doing it, mutter under your breath while you are doing it but when it is all done, you are very impressed with yourself and the fantastic results. Keep thinking of the end result, you will be very happy with all of your hard work. 🙂

You’re some woman …. categorizing poems ????? – that could be a poem in itself.

I think this is better than one thing I have been doing– categorizing medical bills. :O

You are SOOOOO organised. I just have piles of paper (now large brown cartons of paper) and a file on the computer dalled “documents” . When I want something, I type the title into the search box,if I can remember it, or a key word if not. I usually get there in the end. The first poems I wrote – for our mutual courses – were filed by subject matter in a ring file. Nowadays I just write ’em.

I find that a little time spent organising saves a lot of time searching! I was missing out on submissions because I knew I had suitable poems but couldn’t find them.

Hi T. Bud. ~~ I hope your Hubby gets to feeling better soon. This is too nice a weekend to be down. Even for teens, it has been wonderful weather. (Of course the night breeze helps, we are used to having total home air conditioning at home, there is none in the kids’ flat.)

That is an ambitious project of file/folder moving. I hurt to think about it. And KP loves pizza, Piza Express is her favorite. We thought there would be a little left for us but she ate it all. We did get a little of the crust.

Good for you! It’s a worthwhile project. Any serious organizing takes so much time. I have the same desire with years of photos. I find it hard to keep up with it all. 🙂

My tip: just start. Do a little bit each day. The journey of a thousand photographs begins with the first box 🙂

wait. you mean they are not supposed to be in scattered everywhere mismatching notebooks with loose sheets of paper, napkins and sticky notes sticking out of them?
    oh crap.

I welcome your comments but be warned: I'm menopausal and as likely to snarl as smile. Wine or Maltesers are an acceptable bribe; or a compliment about my youthful looks and cheery disposition will do in a pinch.
