A Little Housekeeping
As you know, several minor health issues last year left me with no appetite for blogging. The break has helped but, if I’m going to keep it up, I need to change my habits.
My intention is to try to post at least three times a week from Monday to Friday; and to visit your blogs on Saturdays.
Apologies
I won’t be commenting on my or your blogs as often I used to. If last year taught me anything, it’s that I just can’t sustain it. I’m sure you understand. And if you don’t, feel free to leave a comment.
But don’t expect a reply…
just go with the flow and post when you feel like it,. When I first started I felt the need to post everyday and it did get too much…so now I just do it if I feel I have something important to say. well important to me anyway, other than that I just read and comment.

A sensible approach!

I think we all need to find the perfect compromise. One simply has to go a bit random, and if gems are missed that way (and they will be) that is how things are.
If blogging stops being fun and becomes a chore, then one is doing it wrongly.

I agree!

Me too. I am cutting down a lot to conserve energy. Random reading reveals treasures too.

There aren’t enough hours in the day, and there ARE other things in life — chasing errant pups, exchanging love notes with your Hub, eating bonbons (um, Malteasers) while reading trashy novels . . .
I think you’re supposed to be doing this for enjoyment, self-fulfillment, FUN… If it has become burdensome, it no longer meets those criteria. Write when you choose . . . we will watch for you and enjoy seeing your posts when they pop up. 🙂

I agree with misswhiplash and Karen: this should never be a ‘hafta’ it should always, always, be a “wanna” event. I started out thinking I should post adventures, and realized very quickly that I just didnt have the adventurous external life to write about, and frankly didnt care.
I think of this stuff as my own internal (and slightly scrubbed) diary/newspaper column. anyone who wants to hum along is totally welcome, and anyone who doesn’t, doesn’t have to. No bones broken.
As Karen said, its supposed to be fun. No Response Necessary.

That’s a good way to think about blogging.

You sound like you’re moving close to my schedule.
I did the daily blogging things for the first 3 1/2 months, then kind of burned out and did 2-3 posts per month for a few. Now, I’m at 3 (or very occasionally 4) posts/week and making a lot fewer comments. The routine works.

I managed a daily post for three years but the last six months, if I exclude the jokes, I was lucky to post once a week.

Just an update for you on what’s happening with me since you decided to “take a break” – I have been diagnosed with COPD which is a chronic, progressive & incurable lung disease which has left me disabled. I stay mostly home bound now because a germ can land me in the hospital. I have been a bit depressed, but I am trying to climb out of the whole now. I am taking an online course in Climate Study from University of Exeter & really enjoying it. Have already signed up for a Forensics course in March. Still write “Tickle Me Tuesdays” to help lighten my mood & those of my followers. Take care Tilly Bud – you were very much missed.

I’ve flagged a bit too. It annoys me when a week goes by without having an interesting thought. But I feel bad for my email subscribers if I just post for the sake of it.
Hope you enjoy your new blogging schedule.
For some reason I am reminded of the first post of yours I think I ever read. It was “top ten lists” – I read it and thought “at last – a kindred spirit – someone who can understand me”…

Ha – love the cartoon!
And blogging is supposed to be fun! If I didn’t have anything to write for day, it wouldn’t bother me. I write when I am inspired, or have a great photograph. poem, whatever. Even if I am not writing on my blog, I still enjoy keeping my personal journals.
And I hope no one is keeping a record of tally of who returns comments and who does not. I don’t read blogs to “get” comments – although the visits are obviously nice. I read you because, heck – you’re hilarious and fun and cheeky and….crap…..
there went my Maltesers.

I think it’s good to remember that blogging isn’t a job. You dip in and out as you have a desire to do so. And I, for one, don’t want anyone reading my blog or commenting out of obligation or because they feel it’s a chore! Gracious! What a thought! So if you have time to stop by once in a while you are ALWAYS welcome, and if not, I completely understand. There are seasons in our lives when it’s all just too much. The important thing is to BE WELL! ox

It’s quite simply really… all you have to do is scare a few readers off, then you’ll have much fewer comments and plenty of time to reply to them all 😉

Your whole Yorkie “adventure” had me on the edge of my seat. There is no wondering who would win in the Yorkie vs Car scenario. So glad you are not permanently damaged 🙂 (I’m so paranoid that my yorkie never leaves the house. As far as her 3-pound self is concerned, this house is her entire world). I enjoy your posts whenever you choose to write them. Blogging can’t be an ‘obligation.’ When I find myself thinking that I HAVE to write a blog post, I know it’s time to step back. You are inspiring even with your absence. 🙂

it was such a drought without you. Most important, tho, is that you take care of YOU and your lovely family.
