Make A Date With August 2014

14 Jul

I just read this fact on Facebook:

August will have

  • 5 Fridays
  • 5 Saturdays
  • 5 Sundays

Thought: is it sad that I get more excited about calendar dates than I ever did about romantic dates?

I need time to think about it.  If only I had an extra weekend spare…

Fascinating. I don’t think I’ve ever thought about this before. Of course now I had to know how often this happens, and according to http://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/823-years.html, and contrary to any urban myths you might have heard, it happens during some month almost every year. Furthermore, time and date dot com says it will happen again in May 2015. So, if you can’t find yourself a hot date for this August, you have 9 months to figure it out before May….

I’ve been campaigning for an extra month in the summer, or an extra hour or so in the day now and then, and it hasn’t happened, but this seems like a happy compromise! 🙂 A whole extra weekend in a summer month! Woohoo!

Seems this could only happen in a month with 31 days, which also begins on Friday. Not too impossible. Maybe it should be “Worldwide Date Month” requiring us to squeeze in time for the husband sometime this month. Hmm. And to surprise him. Hmm. I like that idea. Sounds like a post! Ha! 🙂

Thanks Tilly! I feel better knowing that August will be extra long this year because I fear that this summer is zipping by way to quickly and I am comforted by the thought that I can at least savor the month of August. 😀

That is a big IF true, right now the Eastern seaboard is under threat of continuous thunder storms and i know that it has been raining where you are. At least we aren’t having epic drought and horrendous wild fires. Rain is good for us in moderate amounts and I hope that the universe is listening to the word moderate. Stay dry Tilly dearest. xoxo

I read somewhere that there’s something in months such as this, Tilly, although I can’t remember exactly what… doomsayers prophecies or something. I also read that they aren’t as rare as they appear either. August is nigh!

Yes, on FB it occurs every 823 years. Elsewhere on the internet, it happened in March 2013; it will happen again in 2015…

Not good for productivity though, as I’m sure most workers are ready in weekend mode by the time Friday comes around. 🙂

Speaking of dates…should my leg heal as well as hoped, my husband last a few more years, and no other crises occur, my next trip will be to the UK. Of course you will have a couple of years to think about whether you would like to see me in your part of Britain. I promise not to bring extraneous baggage. Say August 2016?
