So Long, Farewell…

2 Jul

Dear Readers,

We’ve been together now for twelve years but all good things must come to an end, and so must this blog. I’ve struggled to post anything, as you know, for three or four years. The initial problems were health issues and depression; I recovered, but the blogging routine was gone. I tried several times to get it going again but I had lost the sense of fun, so I have decided to officially call it quits.

Inside, I’m crying

After completing the MA, I didn’t write anything at all for well over two years, until a good friend asked me to join her in a project: we would set each other daily writing prompts and have a rapid turnaround. Not expecting much, I said, sure, why not? That was nine months ago and I am now writing an average of six poems a week.

Yes, I have gone back to my first love. I’ve been feeling guilty for a while, like I’ve cheated on all of you, but the heart wants what the heart wants.

I have set up a new blog, Poetry Fluff. It’s aimed at people who dislike or are afraid of poetry: basically, it’s this blog’s silliness in rhyme. I do hope you’ll check it out but I’ll understand if you don’t.

Thank you to all of you who followed me, interacted with me, encouraged my silliness, met me in person, sent me gifts/cards/jokes, mourned with me, answered polls, liked, and commented…you are precious to me and I will not forget you. You brought me real joy, people I never met (and a few I did).

Thank you.

Love,

Tilly Bud

PS Maltesers are my preferred going away gift. Obviously.

Congratulations on reuniting with your long lost love 🙂 I can appreciate your predicament. I too have lost my blog muse. I have moved on and blogging is no longer a destination on my new path.

You were there for me when I needed a friend, and I will always carry you in my heart even if we no longer cross paths via blogging. If you ever think of checking in and saying hi, please feel free to drop me an email, although my blog is dark, I still get messages at janiejones.greatwhitenorth@gmail.com

I wish you all the joy and happiness life can afford. You deserve it.

    Sincerely,
    Janie

Not easy to obtain Maltesers in Portugal, Tilly, but for you anything’s possible. Take good care and enjoy the journey ahead 🤗💕💕

Wishing you well in all things going forward, Linda. You will be missed, but I think for those of us who have been “at this” a long time, it’s easy to understand. Be well!

I’m clicking “Like” TB, but I don’t. Thant’s not really true, though, I like you doing whatever it is you need to do. I’ve missed you terribly, and will definitely be checking out the Fluff, just so I can keep an eye on ya.

    Write on, Sister. Warmest Regards.

You have been a very effective chuckle-medicine for me many times when I wasn’t feeling so chipper – and I shall miss you. But thanks for the link to Poetry Fluff. On my way there right away! All the best for the future, for you and the family. Be blessed xx

I loved each moment I spent here, and I hope you leave this site up, for future research on my part, because I missed a lot of it, due to my overloaded life. 😀 Love you, Tilly. Have a wonderful, poetry-filled future and I will go over and join up, just in case. 😀 I’ve got a few malted milk balls waiting for you; we can buy them by the quart or half-gallon, over here, in waxed cardboard cartons just like milk, so you really must come on over sometime. 😉 xoxo ❤

Katherine, thank you! For the malt balls, obvs, but also for your lovely comment.

I am going to leave it up for a while (years, probably, if my previous form is anything to go by), so enjoy!

You were the first blog I followed when I started mine many years ago. At that time you were doing your one post daily thing and I also learned a lot of things which commonly happen on WordPress through your blog….all the prompts/this day/ that day/awards etc. It was a great joy being a silent reader of your blog over the years. But on reading this post I had to comment. All the best in your new venture. Take care and stay blessed!!

Every second of every minute of everything you wrote on your blog was such a joy to me and I have loved engaging with you! I have fallen off the blog radar of late but I hope you know how much laughter you gave me in the face of grief. Thank you

Oh I do understand but I will really MISS you. For me you are the person who epitomizes the heart and soul of blogging: finding a special person, with whom you can connect with, laugh with, cry with and support. Your posts were always an absolute joy to read and I thank you for them.
I thank you too for joining me on our 101 tasks challenge. I look back on those days fondly. We achieved so much!!
But life is all about chapters, and you should go forth and thoroughly enjoy your next one.
I will, of course come and see your poetry page.
I wish you good health and success in whatever it is you decide to do.

I welcome your comments but be warned: I'm menopausal and as likely to snarl as smile. Wine or Maltesers are an acceptable bribe; or a compliment about my youthful looks and cheery disposition will do in a pinch.
