Weekly Photo Challenge: Two Subjects

10 Jun

This challenge came in on April 13th, but my tardy response is a subject for discussion another day.   I don’t want to subject you to yet another long post, so I’ll make it brief.

I did intend to make a joke about school, but Tinman beat me to the punchline, as usual…this time, with a pencil.  Read his response here.

Although the Diamond Jubilee celebrations are all but over, I thought it would be interesting to compare two of the Queen’s subjects.

There is me, the fervent monarchist, who spent the weekend feeling like this:

And, after four days of constant telly watching, with eyes like this:

Then there’s the Queen’s less worthy subject, who really ought to be clapped in irons, if only to make me happy.  His reaction to the whole wonderful spectacle and celebration was this:

Off with his head!

He asked me to pass on his thanks for your faithful support, which I’m reluctant to do, because you were my friend first 😦

Hmmm. I didn’t watch any bit of the celebrations. Just didn’t interest us here in Hawaii. We are so far removed from England, aren’t we? Lol.

Spud, as usual. The boy is a born showman and he insists on wasting his talent by doing something worthy instead 🙂

Keep the Hub, he is still a cutie. He doesn’t know the error of his ways, the Queen is a nice lady.

You should write and tell her that. It is the sweetest thing I’ve ever read about her 🙂

Might be a shame to separate this head from those shoulders – do you think you could forgive him this once?

Hmm. As that seems to be the prevailing sentiment, I think I’m going to have to.

I have no right to comment, being a colonial republican, but I do think your queen has been a revelation in constancy, stoicism and resolution, a reflection, if you will, of what you might consider to be your best national characteristics. Sixty years on the job, and still she has the grace, and resolution to stand through hours of tedium, and look interested -and indeed at times very moved as she participated/led/reviewed the water pageant (now that was an inspired idea). She should be applauded and I am proud to do so. Not that I won’t be at the barricades when the baton is handed on … 🙂
Spare the Hub – a Jubilee gesture, you know?

No TV was my excuse, but I did manage to see some of it afterwards on various links. I’d go for keeping the subject…. they are handy to have around to blame for things!! 😉

I welcome your comments but be warned: I'm menopausal and as likely to snarl as smile. Wine or Maltesers are an acceptable bribe; or a compliment about my youthful looks and cheery disposition will do in a pinch.
